South Western City Schools

Camille Peterson

Camille Peterson has called the South Western community home since 2004 and has been an active volunteer across the district, including service with the PTA. A proud West Side resident and mother of Westland High School graduates, she cares deeply about the future of our students and schools. Camille is running to support students, empower educators, and strengthen our schools—championing equitable, high‑quality education, meaningful support for teachers, and a strong family voice in every decision with integrity.

Camille’s Priorities

Reallocate Legal Fees to Students

Fire lawyer, Omar Tarazi, on day 1 and reallocate the $9k per month into resources that directly benefit students.

Dialogue with the Community

Change the format of some board meetings to create real two‑way dialogue with the community. The people elect the board—the board should be talking directly with the people.

Strengthen SEL Supports

Review Social Emotional Learning to see what’s working, where more support is needed, and how to better reach students to improve behavior, performance, and attendance.
